We will be updating this page regularly with FAQs and new information regarding the current regulations set in place by the UK government in response to Coronavirus (COVID-19). Lichfield Garrick Theatre is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our visitors & staff as our number one priority and this will be reflected in our actions.
The temporary closure of the Lichfield Garrick
Following official guidance from the UK Government and Public Health England, the Lichfield Garrick Theatre has made the decision to cancel shows for March & April. Lichfield Garrick is working closely with touring production companies to reschedule these shows where possible, so audiences don’t miss out on their favourite show. Now, we are currently working through shows in chronological order. If a decision has been made on a show, we will be in touch as soon as we can to advise whether there will be an alternative date.
We are working as quickly as we can with a reduced staff capacity to get in touch with all bookers, either by phone or by email, to refund you, credit your Garrick account or to transfer customers to a rescheduled date. This process will take us time. We thank you for your patience and support.

Phone calls & emails
Our phone lines are now closed as we are unable to work from the theatre building. Don’t worry – we will be in touch. If you have an email address associated to your account, an email advising you of your options will be sent to it. Please do check your junk folders if you are worried you have not received it. We will be phoning everybody else, but all staff are now working from home, so this process is taking a little longer than it would if we were inside the theatre. We thank you once again for your patience.
Each show is being dealt with individually. You may receive multiple emails and phone calls from us, but we will try and deal with as many shows as we can in one phone call to save you time.
All emails advising of show cancellations or date changes have a link attached where you will be asked whether you would like a refund to credit, a refund to your original payment method or whether you would like to donate all or part of your ticket price to the Lichfield Garrick arts charity. Please be aware that, when you select refund to your original payment method, this does not automatically authorise the refund. All refunds must be manually processed, and you will receive an email letting you know when this has been done. You should see the money back in your account within a week of receiving the confirmation email.
If you have emailed in with a request to change dates, a query about your tickets or any questions about shows we haven’t rescheduled yet, we ask that you please refrain from sending multiple emails as we are working through the many we are receiving daily as quickly as we can. We will endeavour to solve your query, but we are prioritising answering emails for shows that would be happening in the next seven days. Thank you for your patience.
Thank you for your continued support
Karen Foster, Chief Executive of the Lichfield Garrick, says:
This is a worrying time for the arts industry and we are very grateful to be working in partnership with our touring promoters, hirers and participants who are all keen to reschedule their shows to continue providing you with the high quality standard of shows the theatre’s audience has grown to know and love.
We would like to thank our patrons for their support in donating their ticket price to Lichfield Garrick Theatre. Words cannot express the kindness you have shown us in our darkest days. We understand that this is an extremely difficult time for many, and this option is not possible for everyone. Any support that has been shown, be that a retweet on Twitter, some kind words on our Facebook wall or a donation to our Charity fund, is gratefully appreciated.
“Your local theatre loves to welcome audience members, participants, coffee drinkers, performers and guests, and yet we stand silent, in an increasingly quiet world. We wish you and your family good health, and we know from your comments to our staff and online, that you wish us and our visiting performers well too. Thank you.
Yet the birds continue to sing and, in the months, ahead, we look forward to resuming our own song, dance, comedy and music routines. As Vera Lynn said ‘We’ll Meet Again’ and we look forward to it.”
Lichfield Garrick is an arts charity
As you know, Lichfield Garrick is an Arts Charity that relies on ticket sales to support its charitable objectives, so the closure of the theatre will have a significant effect on us. If you can, please consider to donating your ticket price to our charity so that the theatre can sustain itself during these times of uncertainty.
We recognise that this time of uncertainty affects everybody differently, but if you can help us remain a vital part of the community, we would be hugely grateful.
Below are a few ways that the charity supports the community with ticket sales income:
Dementia Friendly cinema screenings
Supported Internships for young adults with learning disabilities.
Helping people of all ages who would not be able to attend the theatre by their own means to enjoy our productions and films.
Making an accessible arts venue with relaxed, captioned and audio described performance and screenings.
Bursaries for young performers.
Building confidence and communication skills and combating social isolation and loneliness through arts.
If you would like to take part in any of our community activities that we’re continuing to run, including our Garrick Film Club, Storytime at the Garrick and Masterclass Mondays, then please head over to our Facebook and our YouTube channel to join in.
Thank you for your continued support of the Lichfield Garrick theatre arts charity.
Look after yourselves, stay safe and we’ll meet again soon.
