The Essential Companion Register allows customers who require essential assistance in order to visit the Lichfield Garrick to bring this companion free of charge. We endeavour to offer this on all shows but there may be some exceptions.
You can register by filling out the application form, and returning this to our box office, along with proof of eligibility. Please make sure you have downloaded and read the supporting information. Please note we only ask for information that is essential for your application, and all you data is treated securely and sensitively by relevant staff only. Click here for more information on how we use your data.
Once you are registered on the scheme, the free companion ticket can be booked online once you have logged in to Your Account. Seats that are specific to certain access requirements, such as wheelchair and companion seats, will appear as on the seating plan as stars, which can then be booked online like any other seats.
For customers who choose not to register for a free Essential Companion, half price carer tickets are available on most professional shows, which can be booked over the phone or in person.
Lichfield Garrick has seating on all levels of the theatre and bars on the ground and first floors. We endeavour to open auditorium doors half an hour before the start time of each performance (there will be times when this isn’t possible, but staff on the evening can give you an update).
You can pre order your drinks, tickets, merchandise, ice creams and programmes to avoid queuing. If your companion cannot leave you, these can be brought to you when you arrive and our staff can bring refreshments to your seat inside the auditorium at the interval.
There are up to four spaces for wheelchairs in the main auditorium at the rear of the Stalls and two wheelchairs in our studio. These can be booked online if you have identified to us already that you are a wheelchair user or may book on behalf of a wheelchair user.
Companion seats are held alongside these.
Wheelchair access is available at the Garrick at both entrances to the theatre, these being either the Green Room entrance on Castle Dyke, or the Box Office entrance on Wade Street. All levels including Stalls and Circle are accessible by lift.
You can be dropped off directly outside our Green Room and box office entrances. Both entrances are near the lift, and the Green Room entrance allows easiest access to auditorium and studio. We can provide seating around the theatre for rest intervals if required. Parking for blue badge holders is available on the street directly outside the Garrick.
Lichfield Garrick has large fully accessible toilets in our Green Room and Theatre Bar and standard toilets at Box Office, Green Room Theatre Bar (ladies) and Circle (gentlemen). If you require urgent access to the toilet because of an impairment / disability you can make this known to staff at any time and they will ensure that you are quickly pointed toward the nearest toilet with discretion and dignity.
If you would like any of our literature in large print then please get in touch and let us know.
We do not currently have the funding to offer Audio Description unless this is brought in with a visiting show, but we are hoping to offer this in the future.
We operate a hearing loop in both the Main Auditorium and Studio.
Some shows offer British Sign Language (BSL) Performances or Captioned Performances - this will be stated at the time of booking. We hope to offer more of these in the future.
Our BSL Performances have a British Sign Language Interpreter on the side stage.
Our Captioned Performances have subtitles projected onto a screen either beside or above the stage, show dependent.
Some shows offer Relaxed Performances - this will be stated at the time of booking. We hope to offer more of these in the future. These performances are suitable for people with autism, people with epilepsy and those who may find a typical theatre show overwhelming, and the overall goal of the performance is to provide entertainment in a relaxed environment.
Our Relaxed Performances has the house lights up, no pyrotechnics or loud bangs, no strobe lights and quieter music, and people are free to come and go as they please.
If you have any other needs which we have not covered elsewhere in this statement please let us know so that we can do our very best to give you full and equal access to our services.
