A love story based on William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, the passion and the music flow freely with one unforgettable song after another. ‘Tonight’, ‘Maria’, ‘I Feel Pretty’, ‘America’, ’Somewhere’, ‘One hand One Heart’ and ‘Gee Officer Krupke’ carry the story through on a tsunami of emotion. As the cultural conflict intensifies between young Americans (the ‘Jets’) and Puerto Ricans (the ‘Sharks’) the passion turns to tragedy when Tony, the leader of the Jets, and Maria, a Puerto Rican, fall deeply, desperately defiantly in love.
